Senior Arboricultural Officer - Luton Borough Council
We have an exciting opportunity within our Parks department where you will be responsible for providing professional expertise to support the Parks Service consistent with the Councils aims, objectives, statutory obligations and targets.
You’ll have the opportunity to act as a lead contact in the service on a range of specialist issues relating to arboriculture as well as actively supporting the strategic development of local projects, plans and strategies working with outside bodies and promoting cross boundary liaison.
This exciting opportunity will give you the responsibility to manage, commission and monitor arboricultural works/services to ensure the tree stock is inspected, audited and maintained.
Luton BC are looking for someone with an in-depth experience of arboriculture management and of formulating arboriculture policy and projects.
You’ll be a strong communicator, both verbally and in written correspondence, who can advise, negotiate and persuade a wide range of people, including developers, agencies and the public.
You’ll need to be a good leader as you will be managing and supervising staff, contractors and volunteers tactfully and sensitively.
You’ll have a working knowledge of biological and ecological principles together with an understanding of environmental issues.
We do ask that you have a degree/diploma in arboriculture or a related subject, e.g. forestry, ecology, woodland management, and a minimum of an operational/ technical Level 3 award and evidence of continuing professional development or equivalent experience.
You must hold a full valid driving licence and be able to work independently, managing time and resources without direct management.
