Parks in Popular Music

In the daily cacophony of budget cuts, mounting piles of litter and complaints, it occurred to me, there has to be something out there to cheer us up and get us thinking about something park related but a bit more lighthearted. As a music aficionado ( I just re-arranged my entire CD collection A-Z – all 2,700 of them), what about finding parks that are referred to in popular music. There are obvious ones, but let’s start a list. Here are the ones that I found.

Blur – Parklife

Donna Summer – MacArthur Park

Led Zeppelin – Misty Mountain Hop

Lou Reed – A Perfect Day

Chicago – Saturday in the Park

Linkin Park – anything by them I suppose

Tom Jones – The Green Green Grass of Home –

Miley Cyrus – Flowers

The Move – Flowers in the Rain

Rush – The Trees

George Ezra – Green Green Grass

Creedence Clearwater Revival – Green River

The Chicks – Wide Open Spaces

Florence + the Machine – Landscape

A-Ha – Bandstand

Public Image Ltd – Flowers of Romance –

The Reytons – Kids off the Estate (namechecking Clifton Park in Rotherham) –
