Select Committee on the Plight of Parks 30 January 2024
A brief item on this but a Select Committee was held on the plight of parks on 30 January attended by:-
- Mo Baines, Chief Executive, APSE
- Liz Stuffins, Chair, Midlands Parks Forum and Public Health Development Manager, Walsall Council
- A representative from Plymouth City Council
- Alan Law, Deputy Chief Executive, Natural England
- Ellie Robinson, Head of Places, National Trust
- Helen Griffiths, Chief Executive, Fields in Trust
Evidence was gathered by the panel on the current plight of parks and green spaces. Unfortunately, no feedback as yet but am sure our esteemed colleagues did us proud. For those of us who work in the sector, we all know the continued plight of parks and green spaces, cited again recently in Hort Week with councils announcing the closure of nurseries in Southend on Sea and Bournemouth recently.
